Hawaii's Beachside Lighting Offers Corrosion Resistant Decorative Fixtures

For 17 years Beachside Lighting has manufactured solid brass exterior lighting to withstand the salt air of the near-ocean environment. Beachside is a production manufacturer, with cataloged fixtures for both landscape and wall-mounted applications. Now we are pleased to highlight our relationship with LeiManu Designs, a local artist here in Hawai’i. Using both stainless steel and copper, LeiManu has fabricated decorative sconces, ceiling fixtures, and even chandeliers in a variety of designs. While appearing uniform from a distance, closer inspection reveals that each piece is made by hand using an oxy-acetylene torch. Custom designs are also available.

Behind each decorative sconce is Beachside’s L-023 or L-024 fixture, with low voltage xenon and line voltage CFL sources, respectively. Both feature frosted borosilicate glass and silicone o-rings to protect the lamp and socket from all outside elements, even in locations right on the ocean.

Soon, Beachside will have new fixtures featuring 3, 4, 5, and 10 watt LED modules using Cree’s XP-G series in a 3000K color; as well as 1 and 4 watt amber LED modules for our “Turtle Friendly” fixtures as listed by the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission. Stay Tuned!

Hawaii's Beachside Lighting--Quality Exterior Fixtures without Compromise

Upscale residential and resort projects often allow design professionals the ability to create something special. Quality installation and proper maintenance then help ensure the project continues to shine. Unless done correctly though, one part of the project can stick out like a sore thumb: the exterior lighting. This is especially true in near-ocean installations, where the UVs, and constant heating and cooling in a salt air environment will quickly degrade powder-coated aluminum fixtures, as shown in the above photos.

Fortunately, it does not have to be this way. Photos below show Beachside Lighting’s brass fixtures years after being installed just feet from the ocean. While brass will patina naturally, the lamp and socket are protected from the elements outside.

For over 15 years, Beachside Lighting has produced fixtures made from heavy gauge solid brass which weather to a natural patina. The majority of our fixtures have been used in Florida, the Caribbean, and Hawai’i. We ship via UPS and also work with Florida-based freight forwarders. Beachside Lighting Announces Wildlife Friendly Fixtures

Beachside Lighting is proud to announce that several of our fixtures have been recently approved by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission as "Wildlife Friendly." These fixtures fall into FFWCC’s criteria of keeping fixtures Low, Shielded, and using Long wavelength (amber or red) LED sources. The idea is to keep nesting turtles and new hatchlings from becoming disoriented by artificial lighting at the beach, as described on our website.

Beachside Lighting - Lightfair Hospitality Suite

Beachside Lighting will have a hospitality suite at the Las Vegas Hilton during this year’s Lightfair. While most of our sales representatives will visit, it is also a good opportunity for specifiers to stop by to see some of our latest developments involving our heavy duty brass fixtures, including:

New LED modules for our fixtures
New W16 fixture, using 20 and 35 watt CMH MR16 lamp (available this summer)
New Cylindrical direct burial ballast and transformer, fitting inside standard Rocket Post
New "Turtle Friendly" fixture listings from Florida Fish & Wildlife for additional pathlights and bollards, using amber LED sources.
The addition of nickel plating to the finish options, for the stainless steel look

Hawaii's Beachside Lighting Has Nickel Plated Solid Brass Exterior Fixtures

Beachside Lighting has added nickel plating to our choice of finishes on our solid brass fixtures. It replicates the look of stainless steel, but unlike stainless will not show any hints of rust at near-ocean locations. For more information, please see our FINISHES page.

The salt air in a near-ocean environment can be brutal to exterior lighting fixtures. Powder coatings get compromised and serious pitting develops, as evidenced above. Even copper lighting is not immune to poor fixture design and use of inferior components.
